Become a Chartered Certified Accountant through Malaysia's most awarded ACCA Platinum Learning Partner — 85% first-time pass rate.
Sunway College has been an ACCA Approved Learning Partner — Platinum since 2011, the highest tier of recognition awarded by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants globally. Our ACCA Professional Programme has produced over 30 Malaysian and global prize-winners — more than any other institution in Malaysia — and delivers a sustained first-time pass rate of 85%, versus the ACCA global average of approximately 45%.
The programme prepares you to become a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) — a globally portable qualification recognised in over 180 countries and by the Big Four (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG), FTSE 100 employers, and Malaysian regulators including Bank Negara, Securities Commission, and MIA (Malaysian Institute of Accountants).
Students complete all three ACCA levels — Applied Knowledge (3 papers), Applied Skills (6 papers), and Strategic Professional (4 papers) — alongside the Ethics and Professional Skills Module. Depending on prior qualifications, students may claim up to 9 exemptions, reducing total duration and cost substantially. We also embed optional MICPA-CAANZ and CPA Australia dual-pathway tracks.
Minimum requirements are 2 passes at STPM or A-Level (including Mathematics and English) with 3 credits in SPM, or a completed Foundation / Matriculation / Diploma in any discipline. Diploma holders from Sunway College or equivalent institutions typically enter with 4–9 ACCA exemptions. International students need IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.
Exemptions are granted by ACCA Global based on your prior qualifications. Typical exemptions: Sunway Diploma in Accounting (9 papers), BSc Accounting & Finance degree (9 papers), CAT/FIA holders (up to 4 papers), CPA Australia / MICPA finalists (varies). We'll run a free exemption assessment during your admission interview — saving you up to 2 years and RM 20,000 in fees.
Three reasons. First, all our ACCA lecturers are ACCA-qualified chartered accountants with Big Four practice backgrounds. Second, we run a mandatory mock-exam boot camp four weeks before every ACCA sitting — students sit full paper-length mocks under exam conditions. Third, our class-size cap of 45 students ensures individual tutorials for every paper. These factors together produce the 85% first-time pass rate that Sunway ACCA students have consistently achieved since 2015.
According to the ACCA Global Careers Survey 2025, newly-qualified ACCA members in Malaysia earn an average of RM 7,800 per month (Klang Valley), rising to RM 12,000+ after 3 years of post-qualification experience. Senior Managers at Big Four firms typically earn RM 18,000–25,000 per month. Globally, ACCA members in Singapore, Dubai, and Hong Kong report average salaries of USD 70,000–120,000.
Yes — and we strongly recommend it. ACCA requires 36 months of Practical Experience Requirement (PER) before you can become a qualified member. Sunway partners with Big Four firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG), Baker Tilly, Grant Thornton, BDO, and Crowe Malaysia to place students in paid associate roles from Year 2 onwards. Full-time ACCA Associates earn RM 2,500–3,500 per month while completing their final papers.
A BSc in Accounting is an academic qualification (3 years, university). ACCA is a professional qualification (2.5–3 years, progressive papers) that directly licenses you to practice as a Chartered Certified Accountant. ACCA carries more weight for audit, tax advisory, and consulting careers. Many Sunway students pursue both concurrently via our Dual Award pathway — graduating with a BSc (Hons) from Oxford Brookes University AND an ACCA qualification in the same timeframe.
You may re-sit any ACCA paper in the next available sitting (ACCA runs 4 sittings per year — March, June, September, December). Sunway offers free revision classes for repeat students, and the ACCA Student Support Office provides 1-to-1 counselling on exam technique. No paper can be repeated more than 4 times in any 10-year period under ACCA's time-bound regulations.
Yes. ACCA is one of the qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) for admission as a Chartered Accountant, and by the Audit Oversight Board for audit licensing. ACCA members with Malaysian tax experience can also become approved Tax Agents under LHDN.
